Adapting the life story of the star Bobby Darin, starring a stellar cast, to the stage was a bold idea. There aren't plenty of people around NYC today frequenting musicals on a regular basis who even know who Bobby Darin was. Yet, in the eyes of many, he's one of the trailblazers of the swing and jazz eras in the sixties. Both his life and his success were short-lived, leaving fans with plenty of what-ifs. This story endeavors to delve deeply into the mind of a man who lit up dance halls and movie theaters in the mid-20th century.
As mentioned, one of the key obstacles for Just in Time is still getting people excited about a story that many of them have limited knowledge of. Yet, Bobby Darin wasn't just one of the faces of show business in the mid-century era. He was politically active, campaigning with RFK on the night in LA where he was murdered. Not to provide too many spoilers, but being deeply affected by those events, he spent the next year in solitude in a trailer. In 37 years, it could be said that the man lived a full life, and the soundtrack to it was remarkable! Even if Just in Time at Circle In The Square Theatre on Saturday 14th February 2026 is your first exposure to this character, the performance can strike a chord while making you want to dance your way out of the theater.
